There are many beautiful temples, churches, and cathedrals in the world. I’ve brought photos of some of them. (Show photos.)

Today I’d like to tell you about the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy.

On the outside the Sistine Chapel is rather plain, but once inside you will see one of the most wonderful art galleries in the world. The walls are painted in scenes from the Old and New Testament. They were painted, many years ago, by famous artists. (Show photos of the art.)

The most famous of these artists is Michelangelo who painted the ceiling. He spent four years, high up on scaffolding, painting Biblical scenes of creation: light, darkness, water, earth, sun, moon, plants….. One famous painting shows God reaching out to mankind. (Show the close up of God’s hand almost touching the hand of man.)

Beautiful chapels, churches and cathedrals are built to honor God and in the Bible we find this verse: “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

A temple is like a church or cathedral – a place dedicated to the worship and service of God. God created each one of you as a temple and he puts His Spirit within you. You respect God by taking good care of your body – a temple that honors God.

Places of worship are built and decorated with gold and silver, lovely carvings, and beautiful paintings such as the Sistine Chapel and they are truly amazing. What is even more amazing is that: “You are God’s temple…”

You are beautiful and complete, ready to honor and live with God’s Spirit.
